The
Legislative Branch is the law making body of the Student Government Association,
and will be called the Student Senate. The Legislative Branch should also
examine problems and arrive at possible solutions for the student body and make
proposals to the Executive Branch for its approval.

The role of the Legislative Branch shall be as follows:

The Legislative Branch will make all laws necessary and proper for the
functioning of the Student Government Association in accordance with its stated
Constitutional purposes.

Bills/proposals originating in the Legislative Branch shall have the
force of law only after Executive Branch approval.

Should the Executive Branch fail to act upon a Legislative Branch
decision of which it has been notified, the Legislative Branch decision will
have the force of law after the 14th day from the date of
notification.

A two-thirds (2/3) vote in the Legislative Branch shall override any
Executive Branch veto and such bills will have force of law.

The Legislative Branch shall also have the power to create committees
deemed necessary to perform its functions.

The Legislative Branch will nominate and vote on members of the Student
Organization & Activities Resources Board (SOAR) Committee.
