Membership for BLACK STUDENTS shall consist of college students
who have an interest in helping African-Americans (AFRICAN
DISPORA), like-minded organization, and other oppressed people
.
The rights and responsibilities of members are as follow:
1.
All candidates
for membership must submit an application, and will be required
to pay dues in the amount of
$10.00 per semester.
2.
All new members
will collectively be required to do the following to receive
full membership: organize/supervise 1-2 programs /events
(held at the discretion of active members);
write a summary of a “unsung hero” in African History (not
Martin ,Malcolm ,or Rosa Parks); attend two(2) consecutive
meetings; be familiar with the Willie Lynch Papers ; and
complete a minimum two(2) organizational volunteer hours and
one(1) volunteer with an alternative institution.
3.
All members are required to attend general meetings in addition
to their respective committee meetings and functions/fundraisers
sponsored by BLACK STUDENTS.
4.
All members shall have the right to attend the Executive Board
meeting and participate in the debate on any matters pertaining
to BLACK STUDENTS.
5.
All members shall have the right to nominate themselves and vote
in agreement to nomination set forth by the Executive members.
6.
Grades:
All Members are required to maintain an academic rating of
“Good Standing”.
7.
Members are required to adhere to the rules established by these
by-laws or authorized by these by-laws, as well as, the rules of
Savannah State University. Not withstanding the foregoing,
members may engage in acts of civil disobedience protesting said
rules.
8.
Any violation of these rules or any other rules so authorized by
these by-laws will subject the violator to disciplinary action,
decided by the Rules and Credentials Committee.
