Goal of PSLSAMP

The Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PSLSAMP) aims at increasing the quality and quantity of underrepresented minority students successfully completing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree programs, and increasing the number of students interested in, academically qualified for and matriculated into programs of graduate study.

PSLSAMP Summer Undergraduate Research Training (SURT)

The following 8 students were awarded SURT fellowships to carry out research from May 15 to July 15, 2006 under the guidance of faculty members. Each student shall receive a stipend of $1500 and faculty-recommended research materials for $1000.

Criteria for becoming a SSU-PSLSAMP Scholar:

  • Undergraduate student or eligibility for admission as undergraduate student
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Underrepresented Minority
  • STEM (Science/ Technology/ Engineering/ Mathematics) Major
  • GPA Minimum 3.0

The PSLSAMP Scholars will get:

  • Stipend of $1500 per Academic Year
  • Lap-top Computer
  • Special Tutoring & Mentoring arrangements
  • Summer Enrichment Programs
  • Summer Undergraduate Research Training
  • Participation in Conferences & Research Symposia
  • Science & Engineering Fairs & Site Visits
  • Seminars for Exposure to Graduate Studies
  • Workshops for Preparation for Graduate Studies
  • Participation in Outreach Activities
