Goal of PSLSAMP

The Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PSLSAMP) aims at increasing the quality and quantity of underrepresented minority students successfully completing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree programs, and increasing the number of students interested in, academically qualified for and matriculated into programs of graduate study.

Welcome to our new
PSLSAMP Executive Director

Dr. Ernest L. Brothers has joined the PSLSAMP as Executive Director. Prior to taking up this position, he was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and also Mississippi LSAMP Site Coordinator at Delta State university, Cleveland, MS for the past 6 years. He has also served, for 8 years, as Motor Transport Chief (Non-Commissioned Officer) in the US Marine Corps Reserve. Dr. Brothers is a recipient of a number of awards and certificates.

Dr. Brothers earned a PhD in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS in 2006, a Master of Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State University in 2003, a Master of Science in Natural Science in 1995 and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS in 1994.

SSU Hosts PSLSAMP Meeting

The PSLSAMP Alliance Meeting was held at Savannah State University on July 22-23, 2007. Thanks to Dr. Chellu Chetty, Co-Coordinator of PSLSAMP, who made all the arrangements in the absence of Dr. Jayaraman who was on leave during that period.

 

 

 

 
PSLSAMP Summer Undergraduate Research Training (SURT), 2007

The following 11 students were awarded SURT fellowships to carry out research from March to July 2007 under the guidance of faculty members. Each student shall receive a stipend of $1500 and faculty-recommended research materials for $1000.

Kudos to PSLSAMP Scholars .....

De'Rael Darling, received a place in the 8-week 2007 Purdue Summer Research Opportunity Program during June 3-July 29, 2007. The Purdue University at West Lafayette will also facilitate his participation in the CIC Conference.

Maria Dacunha, received a place in the Summer Undergraduate Research Training (SURT) Program of University of Georgia at Athens, GA.

Stephanie-Marie Ebanks, has been accepted to the 10-week Leadership Alliance/HHMI Summer research Program at University of Miami, Florida.

 
MAGEC-STEM Scholar at Stanford, CA

Kudos to India Calhoun, a MAGEC-STEM scholar and an Engineering Major, who is doing the prestigious summer internship program at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center of Stanford University in California. (Contact: Dr. Chellu Chetty, MAGEC-STEM Program Director)
