comprises the Departments of Biology and Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics,
Engineering and Technology, Mathematics, and Naval and Army ROTC units. The
faculty total 44, 75 percent of whom possess the earned doctorate, excluding
the NROTC and AROTC faculties.
To keep pace with today's high-tech environment,
the College is implementing a project to improve the quality and depth
of student learning experiences in chemistry, computer science technology,
engineering and technology, physics, mathematics, and the sciences, using interactive
technology and self-paced tutorials; to support students at all levels;
and to offer a state-of-the-art robotics and engineering technology curriculum.
The College of Sciences and Technology has
honor societies for high-achieving students.
The College offers Bachelor of Science degree
programs with majors in Biology, Environmental Studies, Marine Biology,
Chemistry, Mathematics, Civil Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering
Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology with Computer Major, Chemical
Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Computer

The College participates in the Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Degree Program
in conjunction with the Georgia Institute of Technology. Qualified students who are accepted
into the Program complete their studies at SSU and become eligible for the award of a
Georgia Tech Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering or Computer Engineering.
The Naval Science Program gives young men and
women the choice of attending college in an academic discipline of their
choice while at the same time receiving military training that culminates
in being commissioned as military officers in the Navy or Marine Corps
upon completion of the baccalaureate degree.
