August, 2002:

Dr. Jonathan Lambright joined as Assistant Professor (Mechanical Engineeering) for the Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program (GTREP).

The BS degree program "Computer Science Technology' is now incorporated in the Department of Engineering and Technology.

August, 2000:

Professor Kendall Hill has retired at the end of 17 years of excellent service of teaching Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

June, 2000

Savannah State University has been designated as one of the eight system institutions participating in Yamacraw Project, which is a unique strategic economic development initiative of the University System of Georgia to make Georgia a world leader in the design of broadband communication systems, chip design, and embedded systems.


August, 1999:

Dr. Kuppuswamy Jayaraman has been appointed as Interim Chairman of the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology.


June, 1999:

Professor Raymond Schlueter has retired at the end of 27 years of excellent service of teaching Electrical Engineering in the Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

May, 1999:

Fall 99 will see classes starting at SSU for students wanting to earn the Georgia Tech Engineering Degree in Computer Engineering or Civil Engineering. This has been made possible through the Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program (GTREP).

        Dual Degree Program

        SSU Engineering Technology Degree Program

October, 1998:

TheStatewide Engineering Programs:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering:

To be offered collaboratively by Georgia Tech with Savannah State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University and Georgia Southern University.

Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering:

To be offered by Georgia Tech largely via distance learning with involvement of Savannah State University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Georgia Southern University and Skidaway Institute of Oceanography.

Details of these collaborative endeavours will be coming to this silver screen soon!
 

August, 1998:

The students started their first 'SEMESTER' after the change-over from 'Quarter' system. All the universities of the University system of Georgia have changed from Quarter to Semester system with effect from the Fall of 1998.
