The College of Sciences & Technology will hold an awards program to recognize students named to the honor role, Dean's List, President's List, Bronze Medallion Scholars, Silver Medallion Scholars and Gold Medallion Scholars.
The Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Ballroom at King-Frazier Student Center.

Johnson earned his undergraduate degree in political science from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., in 1975.
As an undergrad student, he was on the Dean’s List and interned with the Worcester County Legal Services Office.
Johnson received his juris doctor degree from University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., in 1978, where he was president
of the Black American Law Students Association, an admissions recruiter and an intern with the Dade County state attorney’s
office. Immediately after graduation, Johnson worked as a staff attorney with Georgia Legal Services in Brunswick, Ga.
In 1980, he returned to Savannah as an associate with Martin, Thomas & Bass. Two years later, Johnson became a partner
and shareholder in Martin & Johnson, P.C., and an assistant city attorney. He formed his own law firm in 1986.
Johnson represents the Savannah-Chatham Board of Public Education as part of a joint venture with the law firm of
Bouhan, Williams and Levy and is a special assistant attorney general for the Georgia Department of Transportation and
Georgia Department of Corrections. A past president of the Savannah Bar Association, Johnson was elected to the Board
of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia serving the Eastern Circuit, Post 2, for a two-year term that expires June 2007.

SSU alumnus and Deputy Chief of Staff, Navy Enterprise, Pentagon, Captain Bernard L. Jackson, will be the guest of honor for the NROTC Annual Spring Review on April 19, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Wright Stadium.
Captain Bernard L. Jackson is a native of Macon, GA and a 1976 graduate of Savannah State University where he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Captain Jackson was commissioned an Ensign through the NROTC program.
His first tour of duty was as Gunnery Officer and Damage Control Assistance on board USS EL PASO. From August 1982 to April 1985, Captain Jackson was assigned to NROTC Unit at Savannah State University. During this period he also obtained a BS in Mathematics. He had tours as Engineering Officer in USS CONNOLE (1985-87) and USS JOSEPHUS DANIELS (1987-89).During 1989-91, Captain Jackson served on the staff of Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group Eight. In March 1992, Captain Jackson reported to USS TICONDEROGA as Executive Officer.
In November 1993, Captain Jackson attended the Naval War College in Newport, RI, where he earned a Master's Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. Subsequently, he assumed the duties as action officer within the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, the Joint Chief, Washington, DC.
In August 1997, Captain Jackson reported to the precom unit McFAUL as the Commanding Officer. The McFAUL was awarded the CINCLANTFLT "Retention Excellence Award" for 1999. In December 1999, Captain Jackson reported to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations as the Director Washington Liaison Office and subsequently as Executive Secretary to the Navy Human Resources Board of Directors (NHRBOD).
Captain jackson took command of of destroyer Squadron 14 in 2001. As commodore for eight modern warships, Captain jackson developed innovative training techniques that ensured all ships deployed fully combat-ready.
Captain Jackson's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy Achievement Medal and various unit, campaign and service medals.
