Dr. Wade Nobles                          Dr. Asa Hilliard III

Dr. Wade Nobles
Dr. Wade W. Nobles, a professor of Black studies and the founder and executive director of the Institute for the Advanced Study of Black Family, Life and Culture, Inc., at San Francisco State University, is a renowned experimental social psychologist. A prominent theoretical scientist in the fields of African psychology and cross-cultural and ethno-human functioning, Nobles has written extensively on African-American family dynamics, the psychological aspects of mythology, Black child development, parenting and systems of human transformation and development.

Nobles, who received a Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University, is the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including the first Scholarly Research Award and the Scholarship Award from the National Association of Black Psychologists and the Congressional Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community, the State and the Nation from the 99th Session of Congress.

Dr. Asa Hilliard III
Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III, the Fuller E. Callaway professor of urban education at Georgia State University, is a noted teacher, psychologist and historian.

Hilliard received a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in counseling and a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Denver in Colorado. He later served as a professor in the university's College of Education and College of Arts and Sciences.

Hilliard worked for 18 years as a professor at San Francisco State University in California, serving as department chair and dean of education. He has also served as a consultant to the Peace Corps and superintendent of schools in Monrovia. Hilliard worked for six years as a school psychologist in Liberia, West Africa.

Hilliard is known for his participation in the development of several national assessment systems, including a proficiency assessment for educators and developmental assessments for young children and infants. Additionally, he has gained acclaim for serving as an expert witness in several landmark federal cases on bias and test validity.

Hilliard has penned more than 200 research reports, technical papers, articles and books on testing, teaching strategies, ancient African history, child growth and development and other subjects.

Hilliard is affiliated with numerous organizations, including the American Psychological Society, Kappa Delta Pi Laureate Chapter, the Association for the Study of Classical African American Civilization, the Association of Black Psychologists, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the American Educational Research Association and the National Allegiance of Black School Educators.
