Vacationing in SavannahOne of the great things about attending Savannah State University is living so close to downtown Savannah. The city was named one of America’s top ten travel destinations in the November 2007 issue of Condé Nast Traveler magazine. The rating was based on the city’s ambience, friendliness, culture, historic sites, restaurants, lodging and shopping. When you come to Savannah you must explore the converted cotton warehouses on River Street which now house more than 70 restaurants, art galleries and boutiques. If you grow tired of walking around River Street, you can take the Old Town Trolley tour and see the 22 squares and thousands of historical landmarks that make up the city’s historic district. Only 30 minutes away from campus is from Tybee Island. It’s a popular spot for fun in the sun on the Atlantic Ocean. If thrills are what you seek, sign up for boating, deep sea fishing or kayaking for a water-filled adventure. After checking out the lighthouse (It’s 178 steps to the top.), you may want to relax on the beach before heading back home. For more information about Savannah area go to: Georgia Event Calendar |
