Tiger Streak Color Guard

The Tiger Streak Flag Corps is a group of 12-16 young ladies who excel in the art of twirling flags. Auditions are held in the spring semester for SSU students and in the summer for transfer and high school students, and once admitted, strict self-discipline is expected. The flag troupe adds color and flare to the band, and other instruments are used besides traditional flags to add variety and showmanship to the performance, such as hoops, swing flags, and ribbons.

Audition Information:

The training/audition session is a one day program.

Tiger Streak auditions are by invitation ONLY and consist of two stages. You also must be an SSU student, have been accepted into the university, or awaiting acceptance into the university.

Stage One

Candidates must provide a completed registration form with accurate measurements. An optional letter of recommendation from your flag instructor or band director will be accepted as well. This criteria will be evaluated by the audition committee and invitations will be granted to those who meet the qualifications for advancement to the next stage. Invitations to audition will be sent by email and by mail.

Call or email the band office at (912) 356-2246 or ssuband@savstate.edu, and a registration form will be sent to you, which should be returned as soon as possible.

Stage Two

Those ladies who were granted invitations will now proceed through the audition process, which is a one day regiment, usually lasting 8-9 hours.

Ladies will be taught flag choreography and will be required to execute it at the audition. You will be asked to add sixteen to thirty-two counts of your own creative choreography to the end of the prepared flag audition rountine.
