SSU volleyball drops home opener

SAVANNAH
, GA -- South Carolina State University defeated the Savannah State University volleyball team in three games spoiling the Lady Tigers 2006 home debut in Tiger Arena on Tuesday night.

The Tigers were within striking distance in all three games but fell short 30-22, 30-20, and 30-22

SCSU’s Monique Walker led everyone with 16 kills and six blocks in the match.

SSU was tough defensively but struggled offensively as SCSU outscored the Lady Tigers 43 kills to 19.

SSU sophomore Jamilla Joseph had a game-high 13 digs, while April Hayes led the Tigers in assists with 11.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Charleston, S.C. to compete in the The Citadel’s 2006 volleyball tournament on Friday, September 8. SSU Iwill take on Bethune-Cookman College at 1:00 p.m. and The Citadel at 6:00 p.m.
