Smith Named to All-Independent Academic Team

Kiana Smith, a junior guard at Savannah State, has been named to the 2007-08 Division I Academic All-Independent Women’s Basketball Team.
Smith, who hails from Conyers, Georgia, is majoring in secondary education and has a 3.60 grade point average.
Smith is a two-time honoree.
To be considered, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). No athlete is eligible until sophomore athletic and academic standing has been reached (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible transfers are not eligible). In the cases of transfers, graduate students and junior college graduates, the athlete must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
