Sprint Medley Wins Heat At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa- The men's sprint medley relay team won their heat at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Joe Ferguson, Ron Truell, Vernon Williams and Tyrone McCoy finished with a time of 3:30.37.

Overall, the sprint medley squad placed 25th out of 44 teams.

Marcus Stallworth finished 35th out of 56 participants in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.96. Stallworth was seventh in his heat.

The men's 4x400m relay team (Williams, Stallworth, O'Bryan Clemons and Ferguson) ran a time of 3:18.47 in their race. They finished eighth in their heat and 48th out of 75 teams.

Victoria Burch ran in the women's 400m hurdles. Burch was third in her heat and placed 28th out of 47 runners with a time of 1:02.66.

The women's 4x200m relay squad, made up of DaLisha Crowder, Katryna Williams, Mekela Martin and Burch, finished eighth in their heat with a time of 1:43.99. They placed 44th out of 46 squads.

Making up the women's 4x400m relay team were Martin, Williams, Burch and Crowder. They timed at 4:00.44 in their event which was good enough to place them sixth in their heat and 70th out of 83 teams.

"Overall, I was very pleased with the team performance. They have shown a lot of improvement during the last month," said Whitaker.
