Savannah State Competes In TSU Invitational

NASHVILLE, TN- The Savannah State indoor track & field team participated in the Tennessee State Invitational along with many other schools from around the southeast.
The SSU men had five top 10 finishes while the women finished in the top 10 in two events.
The men's 4x200m relay team was fifth in their event with a time of 1:37.00.
In the 400m race, Joe Feguson was seventh (50.21), followed by Vernon Williams who was eighth (50.31) and OBryan Clemons who placed 17th (51.37). Tyrone McCoy was seventh in the one mile run (4:40.02) and 12th in the 800m race (2:00.36).
In the 200m race, Jeremy Boston was 18th (23.31), Willie Ross was 29th (23.68) and Dustin Stevens was 34th (23.90). Shawn Soveign was 10th in the high jump (1.78m) and Marcus Stallworth placed 22nd the the long jump (6.23m).
Rephel Martin, the SSU assistant track coach, won the long jump with a leap of 7.76m. Martin's jump makes him a provisional NCAA qualifier.
For the Savannah State women, the 4x400m relay team finished seventh (4:06.38) and the 4x200m relay team was eighth (1:52.96).
Katryna Williams was 42nd in the 200m race with a time of 27.44 and Kamily Collins was 55th with a time of 30.14. In the 400m race, Mekela Martin was 22nd (1:01.84) and Victoria Burch was 24th (1:02.02).
Sharonda Redfield was 22nd in the long jump with a leap of 4.96m and Netice Grimball placed 37th (3.96m). In the triple jump, Dalisha Crowder was 17th with a jump of 10.67m.
