Four Win For SSU

CHARLESTON, SC- Nakisha Thompson, Valentina Howard, Brandon Norman and Rodney Hamilton brought home first place finishes for Savannah State as the Tigers competed with Charleston Southern and The Citadel in the Bagwell-Settle Relays.
Thompson won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 15.40, Howard won the women's long jump with a leap of 4.90m, Norman captured the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 15.03 and Hamiton's leap of 6.85m was good enough for first in the men's long jump.
Earning second place for the SSU women were the 4x100m relay team (48.63) of Kim White, Tiffany Andrews, Mekela Martin and Thompson as well as the 4x800m relay team (10:13.13) made up of Jennifer Alverez, Tyisha Butler, Bridgette Wilson and Tamia Thomas.
Third place finishers were Howard (15.58) in the 100m hurdles, the 4x200m relay team (1:51.21), the 4x400m relay team (4:15.93) made up of White, Thomas, Martin and Victoria Burch. Shawannda McClain was third in the long jump with a leap of 4.40m.
The Savannah State men's "A" 4x100m relay team (41.28) made up of Ronald Truell, Dustin Stevens, Kevin Murray and Hamilton placed second as did the 4x200m relay team (1:28.59) of Truell, Stevens, Charles Huggins and Stevens. The 4x400m relay team (3:31.41) of Murray, Hamilton,Vernon Williams and Obryan Clemons and the 4x800m relay team (8:18.70) all placed second in their events.
The men's 4x100m "B" squad (42.96) of Rasheed Freeman, Norman, Chris Blount and Williams placed third. Chris Claudius was third in the long jump with a jump of 6.47m.
