Tigers Falter At Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb- Nebraska shot 60 percent from the field and held Savannah State to 12 points in the first half in an 82-34 win over the Tigers at the Devaney Center before a crowd of 9,576.

Shang Ping came off the bench to lead the Cornhuskers with 11 points. Aleks Maric added 10 points, six rebounds and four blocks as Nebraska improved to 7-2.

Savannah State dropped to 6-7 and was paced by freshman Anthony Jones who had eight points. Chris Linton grabbed 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

“I do not know what it looked like to you guys, but you have to give Savannah State credit. I thought they continued to play and play hard and get after the basketball, even when we got the lead that we had,” said Nebraska coach Doc Sadler.

NU held the Tigers scoreless for the first 6:07 while running to 13-0 lead and then went another 7:46 before allowing another point while opening up a 28-4 lead.

Nebraska ended the half on a 29-10 run over the last 11:49, and led 42-12 at intermission.
