Tigers Finish 5th At Southern Showdown

BIRMINGHAM, Al- The Savannah State golf team placed 5th out of 12 teams in the Southern Showdown hosted by Birmingham-Southern, September 24-25 at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Course.

The Tigers posted a 319-310-305-934 team score and finish with a +70.

Spencer Slade paced the Tigers by finishing tied for 10th with a score of 77-75-73-225. Corey Brown finished tied for 25th by shooting a 80-80-75-235. Zac Gelow was tied for 35th with a 238 followed by Riley Baxter whose score of 239 tied him for 37th. Jamie Montgomery shot a 250 which tied him for the 58th spot.

Berry College won the event with a team score of 300-289-297-886.

Thomas Hughins of Alabama was low medalist for the tournament with a three round score of 213 to finish -3.
