SSU Wins Tiger Fall Invitational at Henderson Golf Course

SAVANNAH, Ga- The Savannah State men's golf team claimed the Tiger Fall Invitational crown on Sunday at Henderson Golf Course.

The Tigers posted a final-round of 317 to give them a two-day total of 615 for a +47. SSU won the tournament by nine shots over Bethune-Cookman who finished +56 with 624. Alabama State finished third with a 632 for a +64.

Freshman Jamie Montgomery paced the Tigers as he finished as the top medalist with a two-day score of 144 and ended the event with a +2. The Ponte Vedra, Florida native shot a 70 on day one and 74 on Sunday and finished with nine birdies. Fayetteville State's Ian Milne was right behind Montgomery with a 145 and shot a +3.

Florida A&M's James Petty and Carl Corbin of Bethune-Cookman ws third for third with 147 while FAMU's Jason Still finished fifth with a 150.

Savannah State's Riley Baxter and Jon Lehman were tied for seventh with 154 (+12) while Zac Gelow was tied for 28th with a 163 (+21) and Billy Daly finished 43rd while shooting 173 (+31).

Participating schools include SSU, Bethune-Cookman, Alabama State, Morehouse, Florida A&M, Fayetteville State, Truett-McConnell Community College, South Carolina State, Virginia State, Alabama A&M and St. Augustine's.
