SSU men’s golf finishes second at SWAC Invitational

MONROE, La. – The Savannah State University men’s golf team defeated Texas Southern in a playoff hole to claim the second place spot at the 2006 Louisiana SWAC Tiger Invitational in Monroe, La.
At the end of the two-day tournament, the Tigers found themselves in a tie for second with Texas Southern after shooting a 15 over par. SSU defeated TSU in a sudden death playoff hole, earning second place outright.
Jamie Montgomery, Jon Lehman and Riley Baxter finished tenth after shooting a four over par to lead the Tigers. SSU’s Bill Daley shot a 10 over and Zac Gelow shot an 11 over.
The Tigers finished the first day tied for second with Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a score of 296. Pine Bluff would go on to win the tournament with a score of 588, three strokes ahead of SSU’s 591.
The Louisiana SWAC Tiger Invitational consisted of eight Division I institutions from the Southwestern Athletic Conference and one Division I Independent.
