Gelow named to All-Academic Team

SAVANNAH, GA -- Savannah State University’s Zach Gelow was named to the 2005-06 Division I Independent Men’s Golf All-Academic team, it was announced Tuesday morning.
Gelow, a Marketing major, was one of thirteen players selected to the All-Academic team from Independent Universities across the nation. The sophomore from Brunswick, Ga. currently has a 3.2 GPA.
This season, Gelow was a steady contributor for the Tigers. He played in 20 rounds of golf and finished the season with a 79 stroke average. Gelow also recorded the first hole-in-one of his career at the 2006 National Minority Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The Division I Independents Men’s Golf All-Academic team was selected by sports information directors at member institutions. Nominations form each school were accepted for student-athletes who had at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA, had reached a sophomore athletic standing and participated in 50% of the team’s matches for the 2005-06 school year.
