James “Trey” Mock III enters his first year as assistant baseball coach for Savannah State University. His primary duties will be pitching coach.

Mock, a recent SSU graduate, lettered as a Tiger pitcher from 2006 to 2007. He finished his first season with the Tigers with a 4-1 record, 21 strikeouts and two saves. In his second season he had 34 strikeouts and two saves.

Mock came SSU from Central Florida Community College where he played for two years while earning his associates degree in Physical Therapy.

Out of high school Mock was ranked in the top 10 in pitching with a 1.29 ERA along with a .444 batting average. He led Groves High to the State Sweet Sixteen for the first time in school history.

The Jacksonville, Florida native received his Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Savannah State University in 2007. He is single and resides in Savannah, Georgia.
