Bulls Complete Sweep of Savannah State

TAMPA, Fl- South Florida's Trey Manz hit a RBI single up the middle to drive home the winning run as the Bulls beat Savannah State 9-8 in 10 innings at Red McEwen Park.
It was a come from behind win for the Bulls, who upped their record to 6-5.
Savannah State led 8-5 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but USF scored three runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The Bulls scores three runs off two hits and one error in the inning. They also left the bases loaded.
In the top of the 10th, the first two SSU batters grounded out while the third struck out.
Ryan Lockwood walked to lead off the bottom of the 10th as did Brandon Smith. Lockwood advanced to third on a wild pitch and Smith stole second and Manz stepped up to get the game winning hit.
The game was tied at one after the first inning but the Tigers, who have now lost four straight games, scored four times in the top of the second.
Dexter Kelley walked and Matt Oglesby singled to left. After USF changed pitchers Kyle Wilkerson grounded out but Kelley advanced to third and Oglesby headed to second. Santos Adames doubled to right center which allowed both runners to score. Adames went to third on a wild pitch and Brandon Javis and David Washington drew walks to load the bases. This prompted the Bulls to make another pitching change. Andrew Mendez and Alfred Arnold drew walks that allowed runners to score and put SSU ahead 5-1.
USF scored once in the bottom of the inning to cut Savannah State's score to 5-2.
Both squads scored once in the third and SSU scored once in the sixth to extend their leads to 7-3.
The Bulls crossed the plate twice in the seventh to cut SSU's lead to 7-5 but the Tigers scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth for a 8-5 lead.
SSU left 13 runners on base while the Bulls stranded 19 base runners.
Brett Pointer had three singles for SSU (6-6) while Adames hit two doubles and had three RBI. Wilkerson and Washington also had two hits for the Tigers.
Oglesby took the loss for the Tigers.
Brian Hobbs led USF with two hits. Shawn Sanford got the win, striking out five batters in 4.2 innings.
