Ross, Ballew, Keene and Sherrod Make Baseball All-Independent Team

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Jonathan Ross, Patrick Ballew, John Keene and Mark Sherrod were recently named to the 2007 Division I All-Independent Baseball Team.
Ross and Ballew were named to the second team while Keene and Sherrod were honorable mention selections.
Ross, a sophomore first baseman from Macon, GA, led the Tigers with a .368 batting average. He scored 32 runs, had 60 hits, nine doubles, three home runs, 26 RBI and stole 13 bases in 14 attempts.
Ballew, a freshman from Gloucester, VA, is a right handed pitcher. He led all pitchers in wins (8), complete games (5), starts (14), innings pitched (97.2) and strikeouts (77). Ballew had a 8-6 record and 4.52 earned run
average.
Keene, a senior from Cairo, GA, played first base, catcher and pitcher and started all 53 games this season. At the plate, he had a .350 batting average and led the team in at bats (197), runs (44), hits (69) and doubles
(22). He also stole 19 bases in 21 attempts. On the mound, Keene had a 3.64 ERA and a 5-2 record. He pitched 54.1 innings and struck out 30 batters.
Sherrod is a sophomore right handed pitcher from Jackson, MI. Sherrod had a 4.81 ERA and ended the season with a 7-4 record. He started 13 games and completed three. Sherrod pitched 82.1 innings and struck out
54 batters. |
