GREENVILLE, SC- Kyle Roller walked in a run in the first inning and hit a solo home run in the fith to lead East Carolina to a 6-1 victory over Savannah State at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

The win extended ECU's win streak to six games and improved their record to 27-12.

While Roller led the Pirates at the plate, T. J. Hose did the damage from the mound, allowing Savanah State four hits and one run over seven innings. Hose struck out six Tigers.

Trailing 2-0 entering the sixth, Savannah State got on the scoreboard when Tim waine tripled to right center and came home after John Keene smacked a double down the left field line.SSU failed to produce any other runs that inning and stranded two baserunners. In the bottom of the inning, the Pirates scored twice and stretched their lead to 4-1.

The final runs of the afternoon came in the bottom of the seventh when two Pirates crossed home plate.

Jonathan Ross, Brandon Javis and Ryan Sainz all singled for SSU.

Mark Sherrod pitched 5.1 innings for Savannah State, giving up nine walks, six hits and four runs. James Mock threw 2.2 innings in relief and gave up two hits, two runs and three walks.
