Tigers out slug Rams to advance to EWC Classic Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla- Senior first baseman Gerald Smith belted two homeruns and drove in six runs leading the Tigers to a 16-13 victory in the semi-finals of the EWC Baseball Classic.
Edward Waters transfer Marcus Cortes (1-0) picked up the win for SSU pitching five innings of eight hit baseball. John Keene came on in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Santos Adames and Lafyette Brown each had two hits for the Tigers. Brandon Javis was 1-2 with five runs scored.
The Tigers scored in every inning except the seventh, mounting a 14-7 lead before the Rams can mount a comeback.
Stanley Bell took the lose for Albany State (0-1)
Eric Love, Marcus Smith and Jarvis Williams each had three hits for the Rams.
Saturday’s championship game against Edward Waters was postponed due to rain in the bottom of the third inning with scored knotted at six.
