Blount Claims Third In Triple Jump

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- Chris Blount placed third in the triple jump to lead Savannah State as they participated in the Carolina Chick-Fil-A Invitational at the Eddie Smith Field House. The meet was hosted by the University of North Carolina.

Blount's jump was 13.7m.

The SSU men's 4x400m relay team was fifth with a time of 3:25.32. In the 200m race, Jeremy Boston (23.07) was 12th, Ron Truell (23.41) was 21st and Willie Ross (23.47) was 22nd. Obryan Clemons (51.16) was 13th in the 400m race and Joe Ferguson (52.10) placed 26th. Tyrone McCoy was 24th in the one mile run with a time of 4:33.56.

The women's 4x400m relay team was 4th with their time of 4:04.38.

Mekela Martin placed 9th in the 400m race with a time of 59.75. Monique Harrison was 21st with her run of 1:01.22 and Victoria Burch was 28th with her time of 1:01.95. In the 200m event, Katryna Williams placed 41st with a time of 27.86 and Kamilya Collins was 49th with a time of 29.59.
