Trevan Smith
First season at SSU
Trevan Smith enters his first year as the running backs coach at Savannah State University.
Smith received his Bachelor of Science degree in family and consumer sciences, with a minor in marketing from South Carolina State University in 2006. After graduating from SCSU, Smith volunteered as an assistant for Berkeley High School in his hometown of Monks Corner, South Carolina.
Prior to that, Smith played one season in the National Indoor Football League for the Fayetteville Guard.
Smith played his college football at the University of South Carolina, under the legendary Lou Holtz, from 2000 to 2001. While there, he played running back and as a freshman, recorded the fourth longest run from scrimmage in school history, an 80-yd touchdown. He also played in the 2002 Outback Bowl with USC.
After 2002, Smith transferred to South Carolina State University, where in his first season, he earned All-MEAC 2nd team honors. His biggest highlight of the year was a touchdown run in triple over time to help give SCSU their first ever victory against Hampton University.
A native of Monks Corenr, S.C., Smith is single and currently resides in Savannah, Ga.
