Asst. Coach Emanuel Wheeler
Savannah State University welcomes to the dugout, Coach Emanuel Wheeler.
Wheeler’s primary responsibilities are coaching the outfielders and overseeing the maintenance of Tiger Field.
Before joining the Tigers, Wheeler served as the Infield/Outfield Coach for Chicago State University (Chicago, Illinois) in 2004. During his tenure, he also served as the Director of Baseball Operations. In May 2006, Wheeler was the Assistant Coach for the CICL Summer League team, Galesburg Pioneers (Galesburg, Illinois).
Wheeler obtained his bachelor’s degree in Individualized Curriculum with a minor in Physical Education & Coaching from Chicago State University (Chicago, IL). While attending Chicago State, Wheeler played for the University’s baseball team and served as the team captain his senior year. He received academic recognition as an Athletic Director’s Honor Roll student. Wheeler also received his associate’s degree in Arts from Morton Junior College (Cicero, IL).
While on the diamond, Wheeler encourages the players that they should always “Work hard to win and never let the next man count you out,” reminding them of the importance of hard work and perseverance.
Wheeler now resides in Savannah, Georgia. He is the son of Robert & Audrey Wheeler, co-pastors of Christ Outreach Deliverance Center (Chicago, IL).
