Wildcat Pitchers Combine For One-Hitter

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl- Three Bethune-Cookman pitchers combined to hold Savannah State to just one hit as the Wildcats improved to 16-10 with a 7-0 win over the Tigers.
Starter Eric Thomas along with relievers Sam Rodriguez and Matt Crane held Savannah State to one hit struck out nine batters. Thomas went six innings and struck out six Tigers to earn the win.
SSU had their chances to score as they stranded eight baserunners. Bethune, who had 10 hits, left 12 runners on base.
Neal Jones hit a two run single in the first to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. B-CU added five runs in the bottom of the fifth when they collected five hits to increase their lead to 7-0.
The Tigers got their only hit of the game in the sixth when Brandon Javis reached on a fielders choice.
SSU, who made three errors, had runners in scoring position in the 4th, 5th and 7th innings but came up empty.
Jarrel Arnold took the loss for SSU (16-10). Arnold, one of four SSU pitchers, pitched 4.1 innings and gave up six hits, four runs and four walks.
