Wildcats defeat Savannah State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl- Jose Lozada hit three triples to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 12-1 win over Savannah State at Jackie Robinson Park.
Lozada ended the day going 4-for-5 and drove in four runs.
While Lozada led the Wildcats at the plate, Hiram Burgos and Joseph Munoz combined to limit the Tigers to just four hits while getting nine strikeouts. Burgos pitched seven innings, struck out six, gave up two hits and allowed one run.
SSU's Michael Allegretti suffered his first loss of the season after winning four straight. Allegretti pitched 5.1 innings but gave up 10 hits and seven runs while striking out five.
B-CU scored three times in the first off four hits. The Wildcats added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 6-0 lead.
Savannah State broke up the shutout in the top of the seventh. Santos Adames reached on a fielding error followed by a single from Brandon Javis. Brett Pointer reached on a fielder's choice while allowed Adames to score a unearned run.
Cookman scored five times off six hits in the eighth.
Javis, Pointer, David Rowland and Dexter Kelly all had one hit each for SSU.
Both teams have 15-9 records.
